The Armed is a Detroit-based experimental post-hardcore collective made up of rotating members including Tony Wolski and Cara Drolshagen. With their 2025 album The Future Is Here and Everything Needs to Be Destroyed, the band explores themes of war, media, and social purity. Known for wild shows, the group often surfs into the audience and conjures up the most unhinged mosh pits.
The Armed debuted in 2009 with the album These Are Lights, forming out of the ashes of a band called Slicer Dicer. The band’s 2021 album and incarnation brought them newfound critical acclaim, success, and popularity that has only grown with each subsequent release.
The Armed- Recent News (2025)
The Armed released their sixth full-length album, The Future Is Here and Everything Needs to Be Destroyed, on August 1, 2025 via Sargent House. It’s a return to a more aggressive sound, channeling Weltschmerz—world-weariness and disillusionment—as they critique modern culture’s contradictions such as economic disparity and superficiality.
To promote the record, the band dropped several singles beforehand: “Well Made Play,” “Kingbreaker,” and most recently “Sharp Teeth,” each with its own music video. They’re also touring the U.S. through late 2025 with support from Michigan-based band Prostitute.
