Janky Fresh Friday: New Releases by Orville Peck and FKA Twigs
Welcome to Janky Fresh Friday- the busiest day of the week for artists and labels to drop newly released music. Check in every Friday for a fresh squeeze. As part of Janky Smooth’s Janky Fresh Friday series, we’ve been comparing two albums that come out on the same day and seemingly have nothing in common- for the sole purpose of discovering the wealth of similarities between two disparate things. In some respects, it’s an exercise in empathy, learning how to appreciate differences, placing yourself in the shoes of a different subculture, and putting forth an effort to celebrate music as a whole. related: Janky Fresh Friday – New Releases by Drain and Danny Brown Today’s albums for Friday, November 7th, 2025, are releases from two of the most forward-thinking and strongest personalities in music pop culture at the moment, Orville Peck for country music and FKA Twigs for art-pop music. While Orville Peck’s release Appaloosa is just an EP and FKA Twigs’ newest album Eusexua Afterglow appears to be a sister album to her previous release, both of these releases are more groundbreaking staples in these artists’ discographies than you would expect. Daddy’s Day: Tom of Finland Celebrated 29 Years of TOM’s Bar w/Orville Peck and Mareux
Let’s be honest, most of the time, Father’s Day is one of the worst holidays. Father’s usually don’t get the respect they deserve on that day, let alone the rest of the year. Daddy’s however, require that respect and usually get it. This year, Father’s Day hit its peak with a celebration by The Tom of Finland Foundation commemorating 29 years of TOM’s Bar at Avalon with rare performances by Orville Peck and Mareux. We sent our manliest Daddy on the camera, Taylor Wong out to capture all the decadent festivities. Photos by: Taylor Wong Orville Peck Tom’s Club

TOM’s Bar: Tom of Finland Foundation Celebrates 29 Years of Commemorating Tom With Orville Peck and Mareux
Tom of Finland’s legacy lives on stronger and with more cultural relevance than ever. Few artists have a collection so iconic that it touched and altered lives the world over. The Tom of Finland Foundation proudly carries the torch to ensure new generations are constantly learning about Tom of Finland’s life and being exposed to his artwork. His art is part of what sculpts our modern understanding of masculinity, so to celebrate him, every leather daddy is coming out to Avalon on Sunday in full force. For the Foundation’s 29th anniversary, two of modern music’s hottest artists, Orville Peck and Mareux have joined forces to take the Avalon stage and offer a lineup that no concert in Los Angeles can possibly compete with. Expect just as much hard and heavy dancing as sweet and tender swaying in your Daddy’s arms for this one. Alongside these musical geniuses from completely different genres will be a slew of performers and scene icons prepared to give this evening every ounce of soul in celebration of Tom. There are few moments of essential participation for members of the LGBTQ community, this one is the most monumental in years. Love and leather will fill the air,

Who is Orville Peck? Pink Sunsets Over the OC Observatory
If you need proof that music has the power to change society, look no further than Orville Peck. Coming from the punk and hardcore tradition of making your own rules to live by, Orville has broken the rules of country music, coming at just the right time when the country is the most broken. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Mr. Peck has skyrocketed to success at the same time as Lil Nas X, revolutionizing the same genre. I wouldn’t be surprised if the two ended up doing a duet, actually. Perhaps there was always a homosexual, sort of Tom of Finland, element to country and cowboy culture (Brokeback Mountain wouldn’t be so controversial if released today) or perhaps this genre steeped in conservatism and rigid tradition has always been begging for an artist to liberate it. Whether gay or black or both, the changing face of country mirrors the changing face of America and the Americans that would’ve rejected a whiter, straighter brand of country are ready, willing, and elated to embrace a gayer, darker country music. So who is Orville Peck? Everyone is wondering. The mask adds to the mystique, so maybe it’s better we never find
