John Garcia (born September 4, 1970) is an American singer-songwriter and a foundational voice in desert rock. Raised in Palm Springs, California, he rose to prominence as the lead vocalist of Kyuss, the pioneering stoner rock band whose albums Blues for the Red Sun (1992) and Welcome to Sky Valley (1994) shaped the genre’s sound and ethos . Known for his sun-scorched howl and raw energy, Garcia later led post-Kyuss projects including Slo Burn, Unida, Hermano, and Vista Chino (formerly Kyuss Lives!), before launching his solo project John Garcia and the Band of Gold in 2019 .

Garcia’s solo discography spans four albums: John Garcia (2014), The Coyote Who Spoke in Tongues (2017), and John Garcia and the Band of Gold (2019) . His collaborations range from guest vocals on The Crystal Method’s “Born Too Slow” (2003) to appearances with Karma to Burn, Mondo Generator, Orange Goblin, and Hermes, showcasing his versatility and deep roots in heavy rock culture.

John Garcia isn’t just a voice—he’s the soundtrack of the desert. His legacy spans landmark albums, memorable riffs, and decades of genre-defining performances. His 2025 tour reconnects fans with those raw, reverberating grooves—the same that first defined stoner rock—and keeps the scene’s spirit alive today.
